[Maya stop questioning Capcom's logic this is why they're out for you!!
Phoenix now scratches at his head sheepishly. At least she's focusing on the positives now, just like he had hoped.]
Is it really so weird for me to be professional...?
But, um, it is nice. It kind of feels like I've come a long way. And all those unfortunate things that happened in the past... They've become more like bad memories.
[this is the real reason she got written out... maybe AA6 is a sham after all.]
[Anyway...... even if she's heard bits and pieces of this before, this is quite a lot to take in. If she doesn't focus on the positives, she'll freak out, and she can't do that.]
[Besides, she knew he was in good hands with Apollo and Athena..... though his future without her in it still hurts to think about]
Are you kidding? Who would ever call you professional? [THANKS, MAYA] Do you even know what you're doing? Or are they here to make you look respectable?
What about the dark age of the law....? We--- [oops] You guys are taking care of that, right?
[You're right there, Maya! Just... slightly offscreen!}]
I know what I'm doing most of the time, Maya. Really! I mean... It has been a big adjustment, to being an actual boss. But... I think I really have been getting the hang of it. [With Mia's example, and seeing people like Mr. Starbuck... I think it's all helped me to grow.]
The dark age? I think we've finally brought it to the close. Apollo had already managed to solve one of the incidents that started it, and just recently we managed to finally clear up the other case. The darkness is really starting to fade away from the courtrooms... We dealt a decisive blow.
No way! You're lucky I'm here to teach you how to really be the boss, because I'm sure you're screwing it all up. [of course, Maya doesn't really think he's that helpless or even that he'd be terrible at being a boss.... It's still pretty weird to think about, since her memories of him are as a floundering rookie or darkest hobo timeline, but from what she could piece together, he is doing pretty well in the future. And even teaching fledgling defense attorneys how to flail about in court like he did. It's a far cry from the broken man she knew in the castle, or the disgraced mentor Apollo had told her about. It suits him. He really upholding her sister's legacy.... Even if she's not by his side anymore.]
[Maybe it's better that way.]
Apollo did, huh..... It must be pretty rough on him, having you for a boss. [And Clay's death, and everything.]
Good! Make it back into the dork age of the law instead.

[Now he chuckles sheepishly. And nostalgically. Just like Maya. Even way back then, she's ready to call all of the shots...]
Maybe I'll consider taking your course, Miss Fey... [He answers her in a beleaguered deadpan.]
Heh... but of course, I guess I didn't make it very easy on poor Apollo. But I think he got what he needed to grow into his own as a lawyer. Of course, I'm apparently not as rough of a boss as I should be so maybe it's not so bad on him...
[He smirks and stifles a laugh.]
The dork age? I think I'd need your help to truly complete that image, Maya.
You don't totally torture him, do you? I can see you going mad with power and bullying a mini-Nick of your very own...
[Well, Apollo had told her about how he'd been as a boss... and apparently, it was a nightmare. But somehow, his faith in Phoenix had still been there, so even as a gross hobo....]
What, because I'm so cool I make you look even dorkier?
Methinks the Nick doth protest... however that saying goes!
[At least Athena's hair is cute. But she's got the niggling feeling he's really trying to surround himself with employees who have even weirder hair than him]
It's about time you admitted my style is out of this world! It's a start, I guess.
What does Shakespeare have to do with anything? [Maya, you just quoted him] Are you trying to rope me into some soppy geezer play, or something?
So.... that's how it's been, huh? [As much as she is happy for and proud of him (and she is, no matter how much she teases him), there's still that sinking feeling that she's not in his future. Even now and here, he's got Trucy and Athena and possibly Apollo at the time this thread took place - he doesn't need her. She still can't channel Mia, so what can she really do to help him?]
[But, no, she can't think like that. She's alive now-- she's here, she has to do her best. Even Nick believed in her once, right? He told her that she helped him, against Von Karma.]
Sounds like the future got pretty crazy. I can't believe you're actually a dad.
[Maya please... he just shakes his head at her questioning of Shakespeare's work and tries to imagine her performing Hamlet in the Park.
And then he nods, with a light smile.]
Yeah, more or less. Are you sure it's not so hard to imagine me as a dad when you were just calling me old...? Never mind. But... that's definitely been one of the more welcome changes over the years.
And it's still good to see you again, Maya. ...I was worried about my chances of surviving this place for a minute there.

A new record!
A- a mini-Nick?! He's... not that much like me. ...And no, I don't think I go as far as torture. [But I can't speak for Trucy.]
If... being cool means being a dork... then you're right on the money, Maya Fey!
one day I'll get it
[As for torture, there's probably toilet-cleaning involved, so it counts...]
Whaaaat? No way! I'm nothing like you! It's thanks to my outlandish style that you're not a total waste!

[he sighs, but with a smile.]
'Outlandish' is the one part of that sentence I definitely agree with.

this thread is turning one year old soon
[He sighs and shakes hishead.]
Out of this world? Yeah, that's one way of putting it... Anyway, I think that covers all the basics.
all the more reason I'll never let it die in peace
